Thank you for your interest in this year's mariachi competition! We are excited to show El Paso the vibrancy in our mariachi community and the talent each group brings to the stage. Please review the following information to ensure a smooth and enjoyable event.

Performance and Stage Time
Due to time constraints, each group will have a maximum of 18 minutes of total stage time. This includes your performance which must last between 10 and 12 minutes and setup time. Performances shorter than 10 minutes or exceeding 12 minutes will be disqualified. Groups are required to finish and exit the stage promptly within the allocated 18-minute period.

For example, if your performance time is at 7 pm, you need to be by the stage at least 10 minutes before your playing time, all tuned up and ready to go. At 7 pm, you will walk on stage to set up and play your set. You must finish and exit by 7:18 pm. The following group would walk on stage at 7:20 pm.

Required Piece
Groups MUST include a son as part of their performance set.

Disqualification Criteria
There are THREE ways a group can be disqualified:

Group played under 10 minutes or went over the 12 minute performance limit, and/or
-
The group did not finish and exit the stage within the 18-minute period.

The group fails to incorporate a son into their 10-12 minute set

Judges
Groups will be judged by a 3-judge panel. Judges will be announced as soon as all are confirmed. The judge panel will have the final say on the winners.

Announcement of Winners
Announcement of winners will be at the end of the competition. We estimate this will happen around 9:45 pm. Your entire group is not required to be present, but you should have representation in case your group wins.

Prizes
The Fountains at Farah is the host and is sponsoring this year's prizes and event. They are generously sponsoring a total of $10,000 in cash prizes! Winners will directly make arrangements with them to coordinate payment. Clara Moreno will be the point of contact for this.

Categories
This year there will be two competitive categories: Professional & High School.

We continue to collaborate with the Fountains at Farah because we think it's important for the community to see the great work the schools are doing with mariachi.
